how do I take out seat without effecting airbag warning light ??

If it's anything like the Z3, once you've removed the fixings but before disconnecting the plugs/sockets underneath the seat, take out the ignition key and put them in the house until you've finished. Good luck

unplug the battery before disconnecting anything and leave for 10-15 minutes, then proceed with removing the seat

does disconnecting the battery have any impact on the radio. Some cars you would have to tap a radio code in ??

You will need the radio code if you disconnect the battery.

Does a Z4 have a radio code? An E46 doesn't have one.

There is a recent thread where some Sparco seats were put in a Z4. A search may come up with something and you can PM the OP on that thread.

Need to disconnect battery to allow airbag capacitors to discharge to minimise accidental discharge of the airbag .
Same when you reconnect plugs make sure you have earthed yourself (so no bodily static charge) again to minimise anything going wrong.

Z4 radios do not require a code!

I took our drivers seat out today to change a trim piece. The process i did was the following.
1. Slide the seat back and remove nut caps and untighten the front 2 nuts.
2. Slide seat forward untill it clears the rear bolts then undo
3. Remove the bottom seat belt anchor Bolt
4. Undo the 3 torques screws that hold the seat belt guide
5. Drop the roof
6. Disconnect Battery +
7. Unplug the connector lead under the seat. This has a push in holder slide it out and then unplug
8. Remove Seat.
To refit
Replace seat and fit the plug back on connect battery and then re fix the nuts and bolts.
No code needed for radio but you will need to reset the time you may also need to reset the windows. I have this to do on mine which will be tomorrow as i noticed when putting hood up the windows did not complete their cycle

here you go:

Turn ignition on

Push the open window button until the window is open, then keep it presses for 5 seconds longer.

Push the close window button until it is closed, then release.

This should reset the memory on the window. Same procedure for both windows.

Just one word of warning always disconnect the negative (-) terminal on a negative earth vehicle not the positive (+). Also ensure it cannot spring back to make contact with the battery post.
