My mate has the opposite problem with his E85 Z4, he has to "help" the roof retract but strangely, from the lowered position it lifts up , closes and locks perfectly.

Well I just spent this afternoon relocating the 'newly not working' Z4 roof motor/pump into the boot.
It works great now... but I don't anymore! must have been in and out of the boot 70 times...
Still I can always rely on my boys to be nowhere in sight.....

me too. Tomorrow will feel it big style.
Well the quiet day turned out to be removing the aircon belt, and serpentine belt from the Z4 to find the cause of the new engine noise.!!!
So had to jack up the car and do it from underneath.
Good news, it's only the water pump. £25 for a Meyle one ordered from eBay.
Cant wait for Monday. most of my work there is desk height.
