Having issues with electric windows, all windows except rear RH (drivers side) go down when operating the roof switch, rear RH window remains stuck, all windows do not operate on the master switch, the passenger window switch is working, any idea what is going on?

Do the windows operate using the individual switches?

The drivers side master switch does not operate any of the windows, the single switch on the passenger door does operate that window.

OK
Try this. Just so we are calling things the same, on the window switch panel on the drivers door you have 5 switches, one for each window and a large one that activates all 4, this is what I call the master switch so my question was are the individual switches working and I am guessing they are not.

I am assuming here that all windows are up and the roof is closed.
Try this first.

  1. Close the roof cover in the boot and ensure its correctly locked into position so the roof is enabled.
  2. Insert the key into the drivers door lock and turn to the left (lock) and hold it there for 20 seconds. This should ensure the roof is fully closed and locked, a sort of reset.
  3. Unlock the car on the fob and open the roof cover in the boot to isolate the roof operation then lock the car on the fob.
  4. Insert the key into the drivers door lock and turn right (unlock) and hold for 20 seconds. This should reset the windows / roof system and hopefully the windows will go down.
If they do turn ignition on and check the window switches to see if the windows work, then you can try the roof if they do.

Hi carried out as you suggest still no joy, the passenger door single switch is working but not the master, noticed that the switch is illuminated so power is getting to it.
Disconnected the battery to see if this will do a reset unless you have any other suggestions
I will let you know

You're confusing me.
Does the large switch operate ANY of the windows? Do the passenger door switches operate both passenger windows?
Do the drivers switches operate both drivers windows?

Tony.

The drivers master switch does not work any of the windows
The passenger door has only one switch that is the main door window.
Both rear small operate by the drivers switch which dont obviously work

So, the rear quarter windows don't open with the main large switch, or the 2 small rear switches in the drivers door panel?
It could be the hall switches on the ram on the right hand roof mechanism. If they don't sense the roof is in position it will stop the windows working. As Niall said a fault code reader may be useful. Where are you located?

The roof operating sequence all works except the rh rear small window I am thinking it could be the master switch

Could be the motor for that one window or connections? Even connections on the small switch or the main switch maybe?

You could be right, all windows except the drivers rear go down when operating the roof, the passenger door window goes down using the passenger door switch, non of the windows operate on the drivers door master switch, had my mate diagnostics plugged in and all windows go down and up except the drivers rear, so i am thinking it a window motor fail, and the master switch has gone also, awaiting BMW to give me the correct part number for the Master switch, as it does not have folding mirrors, all switches on the web have the additional button for the mirrors.

Yep, mine is also like that. Have you had a look on Real.OEM.com for part numbers?
