Seen this and thought a good idea, was thinking of doing mine, but my Navigation uses my pop up screen (But could replace with it one on the android pad) also the radio system and various other bits are shown on this screen, so how do Z4,s show this information if they don't have a pop up screen? If I was to try this would I need to buy a head unit from a Z4 that did not have the pop up screen?

Seems a brilliant idea if you don't have a pop up screen in the car,

Seen a few Z4 owners who have done similar, and think it's something I could have seen myself doing to replace the hopeless pop up Satnav I had fitted to mine.

Guess it depends on what tablet you fit as to the functionality available.

My Sat Nav is a lot better now, upgraded the firmware to current and a 2015 disc, now does full postcode searches, still a crap bit of kit I could do without, but as you know also drives the computer & Head unit. So stuck with it.

My s***'s custom!
I love this! Unfortunately with my lack of technical know-how he lost my at "Bluetooth". I'm at more of a: "oooooh, that's shiny" level of intellect!

Seems a good idea, could never understand why Tom Tom has not done some sort of intergrated dash top mount instead of the horrible windscreen mount they come with as standard. It would make the satnav seem more part of the car.

... instead of the horrible windscreen mount...
The advantage of a windscreen mount means you can use the TomTom in more than one vehicle. I like it, although I have bought a new windscreen mount which does not fall off every 5 minutes, unlike the official TomTom one. Also means you can take your own SatNav when flying abroad and using a rental car.

True Dave, But in a zed the windscreen seems such a long way away, you have a job to program the Sat Nav. I put mine on a plastic stick on plate on the dashboard. A lot easier to reach. The other thing I hate is the wire, which always seems to be in the way of the gear lever, unless tied up. No, I like the idea of a dashtop mount and binacle.

I don't dislike the one in my Z4 now I've got it updated and more importantly, Working!. I also see the benefit of a portable system too, as Dave said you have the choice to move it between cars as we do.
The one (OEM) in my Touareg was great, a large screen in the centre of the dash but with a smaller screen in the instrument panel right in front of the driver which showed the turn direction arrows and roundabout exits etc. Brilliant.
