Hi after buying my Z4 E85 2005, it came nearly fully loaded the only thing that it did not have is Cruise Control, so been in touch with the stealers and they have quoted the following:

Part Number: 61316940989-Cruise Control Stalk=£73.50+VAT

I intend to cut out the cowling to accept the stalk, rather than buy the cowling with the cut out already done (Which is over £100)

My Question's are: (Had them all answered Thank You)

1) Has anybody on here done this (Yes)
2) Any idea on how difficult to fit ( Easy Peesy 30 Minutes to fit including the cutting of the cowl) it turns out on mine to be plug and play as the wiring is already present, remove one screw remove cowling, cut cowling click stalk into place attach wiring re-assemble)
3) Are any other parts needed (No other Parts Needed)
4) Once done will the mod need to be set up in any way (No Plug and Play)

Seems a bit unclear if the mod will need configuring before you are able to use, some say that it works immediately without having it set up? (It does not need configuring)

My days getting better, removed the steering cowl and found a little black 4 pin plug, and am assuming that this is for the cruise control stalk, so only need the control stalk. Claims have been made that the wiring for the cruise control was not fitted after October 2004, my car was made in April 2005 and it appears to have the wiring fitted:)

I was tempted to buy a stalk while we were ,over in Florida Jim. I can't remember exactly how much it was but around $60 rings a bell. (£40) I guess I should have got time? Maybe next April then.

Tony.

Glad you got it fitted @TaffZee, sounds a similar install to the later Z3s, just plug and play.

Cruise control is almost essential on the continent, unfortunately there is to much traffic on the roads here to use it effectively.

That's Right TaffZee, nothing like cruising on mostly straight roads for 200miles at a time on cruise control. really relaxing.
