So went out for a blast in the Alpina yesterday, very nice and all that but stopped for a wee refreshment and when I started the old girl back up after about an hour .......bingo .....air bag light is on

Any ideas folks before I attack it with sledge hammer ...... I mean a Carly?

Plug in in Niall.
Probably going to be undertseat wiring but plug in and check the code 1st.
If air bag light on system will not activate in an accident.

Added weight with food and drink made the seat sink lower shorting out the wires / plugs... or did you move the seat about Niall ?

Hi
I was told that Z3's with electric seats are sometimes the issue, if the plug presumably under the seat becomes loose this can sometimes trigger the air bag light

BMW recently issued a recall to replace the E85 passenger seat mat which if defective will trigger the airbag light. Not sure if it is a worldwide recall, but you can have your local dealer run your VIN to see if your car qualifies.

My apologies, BMW is actually calling it a "warranty extension" for North American vehicles. Might still be worth looking into though.
