Just bought a Groupon voucher for Aircon recharge and Clean at ATS Euromaster cost £41.99, booked in for Thursday morning. Put my Creator 310+ scanner on the car and checked the aircon module, no codes present so should be good to go when they connect it up. Not been done since I have owned the car and no history that it was ever done. Hopefully it will blow a bit colder than it is doing so at present.

Fingers crossed @colb. I need to go back to ATS as mine (z3) I think has a leak as was like a fridge when I left there but has since not been as cool. Ive asked them and they have said to bring back for an inspection(free hmm).

I'm led to believe if there is a leak and its small the recharge machines don't pick it up when they run a test. The Z4 has a control module that I can scan with the code reader not sure that can be done on the Z3 to see if there are fault codes.

Mine seemed to go very quickly so will be interesting to see what they pick up and if they should have spotted at the recharge.

On one of my Mercs they picked up on a small leak using UV dye.

If there was a big leak the machine would not have been able to create the vacuum which actually "draws" the gas back into the system. Disappointing I know but there are many things which can create issues on an A/C regas. I used to do this before I retired.

Also, in the background you can see a gas cylinder mounted on a little barrow. This was “pub gas” which was used at low pressure to detect system leaks, a cheaper alternative to trial and error with A/C gas.

Booked for an Inspection with them in a few weeks. They said they will look more carefully for any leaks via the UV dye
