Z3M vs M3 E46

I’m interested to know peoples opinions on the M3 E46 vs the Z3m

Engine 3.2 S50 / S54 (S52 for america)
BHP 321
Torque 260 lb/ft
0-60 mph 5.2 seconds (slightly slower than the coupe)

M3 E46 Concertible manual

Curb weight 1665kg
Engine S54
BHP 338
Torque 269 lb/ft
0-60 mph 5.3 seconds

I’m sure these figures aren’t totally precise as there were a few engines etc but it makes the point.

Why would you have an E46 M3 over a Z3M?

You might need 4 seats occasionally?
I've had five 4-seater convertibles in the past.

bigger boot,
maybe safer in an accident
prefer E46 shape
might not be a hairdresser

Z3MR all day for me. A Roadster is a fun occasional car, a 4 seat car is just a family car, in my view.

I agree.
The M3 has such a huge following and is so raved about I don’t quite understand why the Z3M isn’t considered in such high regard.
Perhaps it is simply down to the styling and the initial poor reception of the 1.9 litre Z3 means it’s more under the radar.

I would like an M3 though….
