Z3M vanos problem

Hi,
I had poor tickover & up & down revving on my Z3M coupe (112k Miles) and an obvious oil leak on the vanos, so I bought up graded vanos solenoid seals. Checked the resistance of solenoids whilst they were out & that checked ok (but the inside of the cover was full of oil). So fitted new seals, now dry BUT, idle is even worse now & whilst before there was no error code, I’m now getting
43 advance valve, VANOS intake. Error on the diagnostic, anyone know if this means the solenoids need replacing? Or is there something else that can throw this error?
Cheers

Two thoughts spring to mind. I have seen messages on other forums that say they had error messages initially and they went away after eg 200 miles. Also idle is expected to be a bit off immediately after as the air needs to be expelled.

I recently did the job and put the solenoid springs back the wrong way round. Though it wasn't that error message I got.

Your M engine could be a very different beast to my M54 for the VANOS of course.
