That's how must of us work on our cars :)
I think you need to have a safe guard like a few bricks / ramps or something, I know of one guy working under a Triumph Stag who is no longer with us his wife took him a cup of coffee thinking he had been out in the garage for a long time niece guy he was.

When I go under it yes. But most jobs just need you to get it off the ground and you can work from the side.
