If you are looking for a low mileage Z3MR with every mechanical part original (and probably in need of replacement) that has hardly been used then keep looking, this isn’t that car. If, however you want a Z3MR that has been maintained and upgraded with a money no issue approach and that has been used, respected and appreciated by an enthusiast read on. This is not an average M that normally comes up for sale.

My M is 22 years old and has covered 137k miles, it has not been subjected to track days in my ownership and not before as far as I know. I have always meticulously warmed up the engine to the correct oil temperature before taking it over 3000 RPM or doing any spirited driving though it has been driven hard on occasions it has been mechanically respected. It has been garaged during my ownership (and by the previous owner as part of a collection) I have not intentionally taken the car out in the rain though have on occasion be caught out in it, hence the car has been used as a dry day pleasure vehicle.

The Imola Red/Black Nappa interior is in a great, used condition, no rips in the seats or serious scuffs. The interior also has the correct matching red/black dashboard, centre consul and door cards. The exterior again is in great condition the lovely Titanium metallic silver shines a treat, there are some small stone chips and minor marks as you can expect for a car that has been used and enjoyed.

The car has a Classic Red soft top that was replaced the same factory colour in 2014, it is of a high standard with hidden top stitching and double stitched rear window. Also included are the full tool kit, warning triangle, first aid kit and tyre inflator pump and puncture repair liquid are all present and correct, it’s rare for all these items to still be present.

This is a well sorted example with a strong powerful engine that does not use any oil between services and the exhausts run shiny clean, many of the new parts have been replaced for preventative maintenance and upgrades reasons.

New clutch, flywheel, thrust bearing, clutch lever, nipple and guibo was installed recently as preventative maintenance. The gearbox shift pins were also replaced as the box was out.

The Vanos has been replaced and upgraded by Mr. Vanos and the inlet cam shimmed so you won’t have any issues in the future unlike standard BMW units that will fail at least once at some time. All fluids have been replaced (ATF gearbox oil, Race LSD diff oil, high performance race brake fluid and OEM coolant). Engine oil and filter have been changed at or before 5k during my ownership and it will received an oil / filter service prior to sale

The viscous fan clutch, thermostat have been replaced as has the main belt and auxiliary belt and idlers and pulleys recently as a maintenance precaution.

The suspension has been replaced and upgraded with SPAX (-15mm) springs, Bilstein B8 Sprint gas/oil performance shocks, new shock top mounts front and (OEM) rears (rears with reinforcing plates) new OEM front drop links, OEM front wishbones and Powerflex bushes, including ARB bushes. The rear beam has been removed and the bushes replaced with Powerflex including the diff bush.

The braking system has had new OEM front callipers with the rears being recently overhauled with new pistons and full seal/rubbers kit. Braided brake pipes, 12 groove Black Diamond disks all round with EBC Red Stuff performance pads have been fitted. Clutch line is also a braided hose.

The Air conditioning system has been overhauled with a new condenser and dryer fitted and the system re-gassed by a BMW specialist and is icy cold.

A new windscreen was fitted to replace the original that had become grit blasted over the life of the vehicle and hindered visibility in low sun and night driving.

New ///M badges have been fitted all round.

The outer sills and front wings have been removed (new sills were fitted at this time) and wax-oyled underneath as a corrosion preventative measure. The inner sills are in excellent condition. The front and rear outer sill edges have custom made protectors fitted.

All four tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 4s and are at 5mm fronts and 6mm rears.

There is a comprehensive service history, BMW and owner records and an impressive maintenance/upgrades file with all receipts available.

There are some “bling” parts on the car such as red colour coded badges, chrome M door lock pulls, stubby aerial etc. these are a matter of personal taste, but all these items are easily reversible.

This M is as said a well sorted example very fast and handles like you would want it to (better than stock) It is set up for road holding not comfort (not that any M is overly comfy)

The car has recently been MOT and serviced.

If you have any questions about the car or are interested in viewing it, please contact me.

This M is well known within the Z3 community and has had extensive work carried out by the Zedshed HQ gang and myself over the last 4 years. More photos and maintenance information can be viewed online. For media type search site:zroadster.org nodzed media
Private plate E6NOD is not included in the sale. Car is now reregistered on a non transferrable previous private plate

What is it with people and mileage? SWMBO was one of them until she met me when I had my Saab 95 HOT Aero with 600000 on the clock and still perfect.

A well looked after beastie like yours has to be worth more than an unknown with lower mileage.

110k on mine and runs like new (better in fact).

What about selling it with an Independent Engineers Report (if not too expensive)?

Someone on one of the forums must want it?

Sorry but no, all available at a cost the cars cheap enough without them or I can throw it all in and put 2k on the asking price 😉😉

The trouble is that this will be a cash buy for someone. It's not easy giving someone that kind of money with no guarantee that it won't break on the way home.

I'd be emphasising how cheap the VED is ;) .

320bhp and near 5 second 0-60 for £280 a year = bargain.

£200 insurance if it's unmodified and you are in the right demographic.

Thanks for the vote of confidence =)) it hasn't broke in the last 40k and 5 years and it's a better car than 5 years ago or even last year so I'm confident it wont now. True though ref the running cost VED lower than 3.0 and insurance well below £200 for me anyhow.

I didn't mean it as a slight. I just know how scary it is to trust a complete stranger with loads of dosh with no come back.

I'd point any buyer over here and they can use your many years of posts about the car for due diligence.

If yours isn't the next M Roadster to sell, whoever buys the other one has made a big mistake.
