"Removed from an E39 M5..."

Looking at RealOEM the part number for the Z3M mirror is different.

Not sure it would fit a Z3. Or would it?

you could be right there Mark....it didn't go into it enough to cross reference the part numbers...but BMW do have a habit of using the same part but just with minor variations..hence the different part number..but you'd need to have it in your hand to see what the difference is i guess

I think the physical screen mounts may be the same but the hidden electrics will be different.
AFAIK, the flashing alarm LED and keyfob receivers are in the M3/M5 mirrors but not the Z3M
Can anyone else confirm?

The standard Z3 mirror is rather on the large size and does obstruct your view to the nearside quite a bit.

I have one of these for sale, missing the adjuster knob, other than that in good condition. I'll pop a photo up tomorrow
