I had the same problem with the cobra on the standard 15" rims, with standard roadcar tires.
My option, and it looks good if I may say so myself, is to go for 17" rims, but still with high tyres, not going the low profile route.
The low profile doesn't go with the car's design. And with the high profile tyres, the percentages are still ok.
Mine are now the same as the BMW X3

I could raise the suspension a little as the wheel-arches are better filled now. (the cobra has coil-overs).
Bigger wheels + raise of suspension = double bonus in ground clearance

I agree with bigger rims but like the style of the current wheels so same but bigger..other than that my only other observation is that the roof needs renewing or re-dying..as the dimensions are not quite right and the fact that its faded highlights this..

I would love to see it with a factory hard top..although not my preference I think it would look fantastic on this car..

It is extremely simple to register in the UK. Because I have only modified the body work there is no need for test or checks. i simply send the paperwork to the DVLA and ask them to register is as a Z300S and they do.

I know that Chris has built a few cars and registered them in Britain before selling them to people in Europe to help get past local rules like you describe. email me if you want details

Fatter back tyres helps a bit

I 'could' drop it an inch but the 'pipes scrape the ground on occaision now plus the slightly higher rider suits the period look I think

Funny you should say that. The weekend after it came out the paintshop a lovely lady in a Kia decided she wanted to drive into the back of the car at 5 miles an hour but not stop until she has shattered the rear end.

I was mildly miffed but it gave me a chance to remodel the fuel filler. I hope you like it.

I saw Nick's car at Stoneleigh in May 2014. It represented the type of car that I had always wanted to own. His enthusiasm fired mine and within 2 weeks I had the donor and within another 6 weeks I had my own Z300S Barchetta. Different in execution in a few details and certainly in colour. I vote it a success and thoroughly enjoy driving it.

That's Chris from Tribute posing at Donington in August 2014. The car is still in gel coat white and the stripes are not finalised and neither are those mirrors. I am basing the appearance on Bruce Male's Maserati A6 GCS with Fantuzzi body seen below at the 2014 Mille Miglia Revival.

Couldn't resist having some fun with the exhaust. The fake one is a bit skinny but the real pipe suits the 2.8 motor.
