I have changed heater blower resistors in many brands of car over the years and it's quite common to have to change the blower motor assy. at the same time due to bearings being tight or noisy or both. It's rare that lubrication is successful when they get to this stage, usually they soon return with the same problem(s). If in doubt ditch the motor while its out.

Given the price and availability of the parts in Australia (non-existent and very expensive) I've ordered just the resistor for now and I'll see how the blower goes with some TLC. If it does give out again I'll get a new motor, it's not a big deal getting in there to change it.

A little cosmetic change - the brushed chrome wasn't working for me so I changed it to the "box" BMW pattern. I'll probably do some door insert areas and maybe some other areas in this vinyl cover. Made it a bit cleaner for me - even with the poor photos:

I bought some good quality vinyl like that last year, I just can't convince myself that it will look good against the tan interior. I'm looking at covering the centre console like this.

If this is the interior that you have then my opinion is that it would look good but I can see where you're coming from. I would maybe even go for a very dark wood veneer and apply that.

If you were in the area I would have given you mine to "test drive"

nice brought it up to date
it did - but it's made other parts look more out dated now :) think I'll be re-trimming the boots/gaiters and I also have to do the i-panels as they've deteriorated, then I'll want to do the hockey sticks and the doors...and on it goes.

That is what I call the while I' at it syndrome. Step 1 always makes such a difference you must take step 2 and so on and on and on!! JIM

too right - i'm trying to avoid that because even though the car isn't on the road yet i'm already looking at the next thing

while i'm at it...I now really want a Z3M Coupe so I don't want to put too much into this car.

There is a place in the Netherlands which seems to have a few RHD M coupes available.

Oh and there is a group buy on the Apex ARC-8 wheels which I want - and can keep and transfer to the M coupe :)

You should have bought Andy's coupe. Believe me if I could have bought it paid the boat trip and the cost to the middle of Canada for transport it was the best deal I've found in a year and a half of looking. Some lucky b}^}*+*££d got a deal. Stick with your plan. It will pay off in the end. JIM

@fuzz If you mean these guys, I only read bad reports about them on the Dutch forums.

yes that is who I was looking at - look like a professional outfit. they also have damaged coupes and a lot of other nice RHD cars like AC Cobras and TVR's.

There seems to be a few RHD Z3's over there? Is there a better car selling website? I'll have a look at ebay.nl too

I remapped my Harley with an aftermarket unit. Plug and play, does anything like that exists? Also for the info on the resistor, I just saw where it is located by running up this thread. Is there a level that can be checked with a multimeter? Ohms resistance? Thanks

Normally if a resistor has failed it will run on full speed. If it doesn't the problem could elsewhere.
