I had the same issue with my silver Z3. The metal fixing point in the original wing mirrors is not the best and seizes up over time if not maintained. I purchased a pair of the X8R ones that Sean made reference to earlier. I had these painted up, then moved the motor, glass and plastic outer casings over from my old ones. Work great and won't seize up.

So these X8R parts (they’re just the distributor for a German guy called Udo).

Is there a universal left-hand drive & right-hand drive fitment? They are different parts originally aren’t they?

They do both Robert, I ordered mine and I accidentally ordered left hand drive, they noticed that I was UK based and rang me at work before they dispatched it.
