Good Evening,

Im the proud owner of my first Z3 and looking to smarted up those rough edges and wondering if someone could give me a little advice on the wing mirrors.
My passenger side mirror tilts upwards (just the glass) when the door is shut with a bump. Its not too much of a problem as i use the controls to tip it back but it is bugging me.

Any advice on what the issue is likely to be would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

Needs a bit of investigation. Either the mirror is coming loose from the backing plate, it’s not connected to the motor fully, or the motor has a broken bracket.

Most the repair should cost is £10-£15 for an E36 used wind mirror motor.

That's not too bad then, thak you for the response. Do they pop apart easily to take a look?

Yes the glass is snapped into position, you can lever it out and take a look to see what the issue is

Just make sure you get the lever in the right place near one of the four pop mounts. Otherwise it’s possible to break the glass. The 2nd mount will pop easier and the 3rd and 4th will be no problem.

That’s if you need to remove the backing plate. Mind did that recently and the glass just needed refixing to the backing.
