Z3 Tracking.

After fitting poly bushes on the rear of the front control arms, the tracking will need adjusting.
So i called in ay my local A.T.S branch today to get the car booked in.
The chap said they won't do it, to take it to BMW, or a specialist place he recommended in Nottingham.
He said weights should be added inside the car. 68kg in both the seats and 14kg in the boot plus a full tank of fuel to be able to set it up right.
Anyone know if this is correct ?.

Get mine done at the local tyre garage Steve and never had any wear issues, just coming to the end of my second set of tyres and only had them tracked when they were fitted still equal wear.

sounds a bit much, just have it done by a local tyre place.

That's well over the top. You set race cars up like that. Look for a garage that does hunter alignment. That's the top of the range kit and has the Z3 presets.

Lee and Steve the hunter has the same request i did lynne's zed yesterday and when you set the hunter up it does ask for full tank plus weights but hunter equipped depots should have the weights we do .
Steve does your rear end now have some sort of adjustment as the hunter will say only adjustment possible is front toe.

I have used Demon Tweeks in Wrexham and found them very good,and surprising competivly priced.

Hi Steve, not done anything to the rear of the car, so no adjustment there.

They wanted £65 if they could have done it as well, is that about right.

For front wheel alignment they check it for nothing but if it needs adjusting I think it's £25+vodka and tonic Steve.

Hope they don't drink the v+t before they check the tracking ........hick .
That's cheap, do you have to book in, or can I just turn up?.

My local tyre depot charges £20 for front alignment Steve. Did one for me a couple of years back and all was well.

Mine needs doing as well have a local place with some fandagel machine. The front bushes have sat the wheels in a completley different position and they are toeing out at the moment. Will get it done saturday hopefully but need to get the brakes sorted first

My tyre centre do a tracking check for free, about £20 if it needs adjustment. There is no rear adjustment on the Z3. Simples.

When I had a couple of front tyres on my daily drive from National tyres on their website are special offer vouchers , one of them was for half price front wheel tracking cost fifteen pound's
They checked for free and only charged if adjustments needed
Also do oil change vouchers and only cost me an extra 5 pounds over doing it myself

Bozzy I have someone near me ,who has a state off the art four wheel alligntment system which is great bit off kit,he tracks all new Isuzu,s for a main dealer before they sell them,he's around the figure you quoted ,he's half an hour from you in a village called Ibstock .

Mine isn't too bad apart from on bad road Surfaces, then the steering can be a bit wayward but it wasn't like that before.
