Where you a Z3 owner before you got a Z4 , why did you change , do you still have the Z3 ?
Or have you gone the other way Z4 to Z3 ?

Wanted to try a Z4 and have something else to tinker with, prefer the Z3 but the 2.5 Z4 is a tad quicker that the 1.9 Z3

Had a Z3 for 6 years, Bought a Z4 with the intention of moving it on for a small profit.
SWMBO never felt comfortable in the 3 but liked the 4. I preferred the sense of occasion when driving the 3 but the 4 is a car i could use every day especially good on long journeys and not a daunting prospect to drive in bad weather. 2 totally different cars really all they share is BMW build quality and a soft top.

Can only agree Paul, Shirl feels the Z4 is nicer to ride in and I have to agree. Still a lot of fun when you want it to be though.

Had a 3.0 Z3 then got the 3.0si Z4 kept both for a year but just could not justify keeping both as only got off road parking for one. Both are very different in there own right and both very enjoyable to drive.

I bought one of each about six weeks apart due to a horrendous case of indecision. But it turns out my partner prefers driving the Z3 and I prefer driving the Z4. So it has worked out nicely.

1.8 Z3 (in 1997), followed by MR, then MC, then 1.9 (M44). Sorry, don't like the Z4.

I had a 1.9 z3 then changed to a 2.5 z4 then went back to a 1.9 z3 the z4 was a lot better on the motorway especially when passing lorries , in the z3 you feel very small but is so much more fun on the twisty country roads . :rally:

Yep, my history is 2.2 Z3, then bought a 2.5si Z4 but didn't sell the Z3 in case I didn't like the Z4. Good job as I couldn't bond with the Z4, lots of little things I didn't like so I sold the Z4 then bought a 3.0 Z3 to go with my 2.2.

It is a bit unfair to compare a Z3 with a Z4. They are completely different cars, bit like comparing apples with oranges but the Z3s always put a smile on my face when I'm out.

I've voted 'Went to Z3 from Z4' as there is not an option for 1 x Z3 > Z3 + Z4 > 2 x Z3;)

I went from 3litre z3 to 3litre z4(e85) same engine but quite different cars, still couldn't say which I preferred, recently got 2litre z4(e89) which hands down is better than both imo, to be fair there all great cars, I'll be selling the e85 in the spring if anyone is looking

My zed history is; Z3 2.8, Z3 1.9, Z3 2.2 then Z4 2.2. I like them all for different reasons. Overall, I like the Z3 shape best, but prefer the Z4 to drive. I think it just comes down to personal choice and to say one is better would depend on the criteria. Just enjoy whatever you've got.

I can’t see me getting rid of the ///M until I’m to old to get in it or offered something outrageous for it but even then I would be full of regret but the wife would sell it in a heart beat. If anything happens to me she’s already promised it to a mate for a quid!

I do like the extra leg room in a Z4 and like the Alpina model and the E89 but do have to say I was dragged out shopping over Xmas by the house elf and parked next to a new Z4 in white and it looks better in the flesh even the wife liked it.

Z3 2.8 sold bought Z3M then Z4 e85 (kept Z3) just couldn't get on with the e85 px'd for e89 which is a world apart from the e85.

Still got the Z3.

Same here she loves the e89 but is somewhat indifferent to the Z3....funny thing is though she has driven the Z3 a lot, and always wants to but only driven the Z4 once and doesn't seem to want to drive it more  go figure

I went from a Z3 to Z4 then Back to Z3. Been through all the 6cyl models including the M. I found the Z4 a far more refined and spacious car to drive. The Z3 was more a drivers car, you could drive the Z4 hard all day but the Z3 would tire you out :D
