Z3 to Z4

I have a X3 for doing the long, wet wintery journeys and carting stuff around. The Z3 is for the commute to the office and the general going around.
I did a couple of long journey in the Z during the summer, and I loved it. I did north wales -> sommerset -> berkshire in one day, all top down and all on A roads. Seats are just fine!

Personally I don't think I'd go Z4, the Z3 reaches back to the 'classic' car era, where it didn't need to be practical and/or efficient as long as it looked good. I like that spirit

I started with a Z3 2.8 auto and sold that after 3 years and bought a Z4 3.0 coupe manual. The bext way l can describe tbe Z3 is that it looked far better than it drove.. was twitchy at high speed and you sat 'on' the seats rather than 'in' them and l suffered with terrible backache after half an hour behing the wheel .. whereas the Z4 is tight and precise and the seats plush and comfortable.. to me now the Z4 is bigger and more 'manly' and Z3's now look small and dated..

Strange how people differ, I did just shy of 3k on the Euro trip (plus extended run) in my Z3 this year plus 1700 miles driving around Scotland last month with no discomfort, 100 miles in the Z4 and my back is screaming, just cant seem to get the seat right.

Not quite as epic as your journey mate but Carrie and I did 7 hours to the lakes, then 9 hours driving the next day and then another 5 hours home the day after and I got out as fresh as a daisy, the only gripe I had was my arms where aching.

You're probably right and I did find some of the switches were not quite as handy in the 4 but now after 2 years I don't any more. I've done some things inside the cabin which makes it more interesting anyway.

I had exactly the same problem with our Z4 Niall. No problems in the Z3 can drive all day. After about an hour in the Z4 I needed a break
