Is it any Z4 wheel or just from an E85? Is the process reversible or does it involve some ‘surgery’? Thanks

You can use an M version Z4 wheel. even the multi function wheel.
It becomes slightly more comtlicated, but it is do-able.
The easiest is the E85 though.
With a multi functional wheel, you can fit a bluetooth transtonder into the wheel, so that it will function to your head unit.. but as I say, it requires some comtetence in understanding the requirements to do that.
Also, your airbag system may need some attlication. If you have a 2 stage bag, it's fairly straight forward. A single stage Z3 sysytem isn't difficult, but you must make a small change to the Z4 airbag connection to accommodate the singel stage Z3

The M version wheel is obviously more desirable, but aquiring one is more extensive from the 2nd hand market..

Reversible ... Yes.. if you retain your Z3 steering wheel, it's very easily done..

Ha ha ha .... I am in South Africa.. it would be very expensive if you were to ship the wheel to me, and then ship it back, plus the cost of the adapter, and the machining required to the Z4 wheel.
The process is very simple really. There are a couple of guys on the forum that have already done the swap, and they will be able to assist you in all the details.
If you want, I can give you a couple of useful names which you can contact there in the UK and who will be able to help you as and when you need.

Do you have any more Z3 chrome gear lever surrounds? I 'm sure there would be a market for them.

I wish I did.. the guy who used to do the CNC machining are now living in New Zealand, and I haven't found another who is willing to do them.
