I have finally got my zed back on the road with a fresh MOT, after 6 years of it sitting.

Had a few minor issues, probably because of how long it was sat for, seized front caliper, leaky slave cylinder and one of the two horns had failed. All sorted now, done a complete service and she is now booked in for a full panel off respray in November.

One of the things I was looking at having painted was the bit of trim where the roof release mechanism is on the interior, I've sat in a few zeds where this bit corrodes and the paint starts bubbling up. My question is whether this is removable? Or whether it's easiest to mask around and paint it in situ?

Cheers.

Comes off. Better idea to remove as there may be corrosion where the brackets join on the side and where the hood wraps over the front.

Thanks, I have seen that diagram but difficult to see exactly what fixings need to be removed to get it out. Assume the hood needs to come off as it wraps over like you've said.

Two bolts in each side hold it to the frame, front hood retaining bar needs to be removed and the hood front peeled back (it’s glued on). Hood tension wires need to be removed. If you have a hood liner that it also screwed and pop riveted to this part.
