z3 seat help

hi all,
has anyone had the same problem im having with the seats on my 2.8 1999 z3.i have just replaced the seat bushes but when i tighten the 2 t25 torx screws on the btm rails they stop working.when i slacken them off they start working again.any ideas anyone?i must have taken the threade rods out of the rails a dozen time but still no joy.its the same for both seats

Sounds like the threaded rods are out of sink. If its just the drivers seat you could try taking out the passenger seat and take measurements off the good seat, alternatively make sure both the threaded rod etc are even . Trouble is the seats are heavy and awkward but it may be trial and error but it does sound like the threads are not in the same place when removed.
Hopefully someone can come up with a better suggestion

thanks for the reply.i might give it another go tommorow with a fresh mind.just seems strange when i tighten those 2 screws.ive left them slack for now

When do seat bushings, I turn the nut blocks on 9 1/2 turns on both sides. this keeps them even and allows you to refit the rods.

i counted the full turns at 8 when i took them off and hopefully done the same putting them back on.but i may have to check again.thank you for advice

When I was refitting my seat last time, and was adjusting it to reach the nuts, one of the runners appeared to jam and only the other moved, twisting the seat. I ended up taking it back out again, removing the rods, and refitting them so they were in sync.

thanks for the reply.i left it as i had fitted it and it now seems to be moving okay.maybe the battery was a bit low.
