I decided not to buy it, I knew I would get the answers I needed if I put the questions out there… it’s my decision but I thank you for your input, it was the interruption I think I needed… I have another Z3 on the drive and the Z4 coupe conversion in the garden… did i really need another project!!?… NO! 🤣🤣👍🏻

No, not tried that. I’ve just come to accept she drinks oil. I guess it might also be down to how the car was run in or how it’s been used in the past. My car went through a long period of very low annual mileage in the last 10years. I’m not really bothered about it anymore.
 
I've tried using thicker oil, didn't seem to make any difference to the consumption. Which is annoying. Tried running some engine flush in it a couple of times, didn't help. If I was the young keen chap I probably never was in the first place I might consider taking it to bits to see what's in there, but the thought of the expense puts me off. By the time I've got all the gaskets, head-bolts, bearing shells etc it'd be cheaper to keep putting oil in it. And a damn sight easier, too. Which is good.:thumbsup:

If it's not spewing out blue smoke from the exhaust then I wouldn't worry about it.
 
I agree with Duncodin
neither of mine seem to use much oil, so I dont worry about it.
Mind you I don't do lots of miles
