Z3 roof question

Probably one for our resident breakers..Is it possible to remove the outer roof but leave the inner liner on the frame…or are they attached to each other…or do you have to remove the inner liner to be able to remove the outer roof covering …thanks folks

The guy who fitted my new roof a couple of years ago left the inner liner in place through the whole job.
