Z3 prospective owner

hi all, looking at a Z3 on eBay. What do you think of the panel gaps on the boot? Factory? Or had a shunt ?

Hi David welcome to the forum. All panels are bolt on and on a 20 yr old car they've probably been off more than once. Lots of enthusiasts remove body panels to check for corrosion/condition etc. They don't look too bad to me. Open the boot, lift the carpet and look for ripples in the boot floor.

Also there are plenty of pics on the forum where you can compare with other cars

The rear wing to bumper alignment looks pretty good, so it doesn't seem from that one picture that anything too nasty has happened. As Jack Ratt says, check the boot floor.

Thanks Jack, that’s what alerted me. Having looked at many Z3’s on various advertising sites most looked much tighter or even if you get my drift. Haven’t had site of the car as the owner isn’t close to me and has to work away shortly. I can give the eBay number if any one wants to give their two pence worth. Cheers

It's a nice looking car, it's a standard 2.8 specification except for the sports seats. You can peruse it's MOT history here https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=2.150302448.732135502.1565381414-949325911.1564588510

The price is more than I would expect from a private sale given the mileage but condition rules so you'll need to have a look at it and make your decision.

Good advice Cheers Jack. Looks like it’s had brake pipe issues over the years, tyres etc nothing too sinister. Says he has spent a lot on the brakes. See how it pans out.

There are always cars for sale here on the forum. I bought my silver 2.8 from a fellow member last year. It came with hard top, tonneau and wind deflector, 122k miles and I paid £3.5k for it. The only cost to me since has been a rear light bulb at it's last MOT. It's a great little car.
