Z3 poor heater, help please.

Took me a few minutes to find it, but the following link may also be useful to you. Basically it gives details of how to get a lot of extra information out of the standard instrument panel and is useful if you don't have a full diagnostics kit handy.
The timing of the button presses to get into the test modes takes a few attempts to get right.

I knew there was a problem as the heater did not get very hot, also my temperature gauge only just came off the blue zone. Now there is plenty of hot air available.

@roadvoyager1 that's great and many thanks. I've "bookmarked" your thread for future reference. I'll start by bleeding any air out tommorrow night and see where that takes me. Water pump and thermostat on the list of jobs to do.

Well I can confirm it's not an airlock. Just been through the various advice and confirmed. One free one down, I'll check others this/next week.

I did notice though that the air gets warmer the more revs she's on, not sure what that means?

That really points to a water pump problem.

Thanks Mike, I'll get one for Xmas and keep driving to a minimum in the mean time.

Get a thermostat as well, flush the system out and put new antifreeze in it. make a proper job of it. Remember to open the valve on the heater when you put the antifreeze in.

Andy,
I would also check that the belt and that the tensioner is keeping it tight. When you order your new pump speak to the seller and confirm it has a metal impeller. I found that some showed an image with a metal one, but said the latest model with a plastic impeller would be supplied.
