From what the lads on the Z3 Coupe Forum which I'm a member of these items are NLA from BMW. Mine was giving erratic readings last year so when I had the wings and sill covers off for refurb I removed this sensor. I gave it a good clean up as it was heavily corroded and covered in crud, I also recut the thread so I could get a nut on it again. I cleaned up the contacts then refitted it, its been fine ever since.
Cost - Nil. Give it a try.

Failing that see if you can get second hand one of the guys on here.

I used an E46 one, fits perfectly in the 6 cylinder bumper grill as per original and I just used the original wiring to connect to the new sensor with some small spade connectors if I remember. You can get them with a plug and wiring attached on ebay

Just shows the difference with the M Coupe to the roadster, on my car it’s tucked behind the drivers rear wheel arch liner. Even there it got covered in crud. Good tip about the E46 sensor. 👍

I believe the sensor is tucked behind the wheel arch on all ///M's. They put it in the perfect place to get battered by the elements and they end up corroding. When I fitted the ///M gauges in my 2.8 I tried to get the correct sensor to work with the temperature gauge but seems they were NLA then. It's a different sensor to the 6 cylinder and I couldn't get the 6 cylinder version to work with the ///M gauge. I got an aftermarket one which worked but have since changed the gauges and use the original OBC with an E46 sensor.

So if your after a replacement for the ///M then an E46 one won't work unfortunately.
