Z3 Is there something missing on my car?

Hi all
On my 2.0 1999 Z3 which I purchased in June.
I noticed that when the soft top is down there seems to something missing see photo’s
I’ve had 3 Z3’s in the past and haven’t noticed the empty spaces behind the door pillars
The car looks like it had a hardtop fitted in the past but removed with it’s fitting kit before I got it.
Can any one tell me what’s missing

Has your Z got rollover bars fitted Norm? Mine has and without looking, I think the space you are concerned about has a covering. If I go out to the car later on I shall photo mine and post it here for you.

From memory, I think that you are missing these plastic covers :-

Looks familiar with a couple of plastic blanks. What holds them in place?
I will have to find some.

From memory, I think that you are missing these plastic covers :-

Those are the covers for the hardtop mounting, if it is not fitted there should be some soft trim pieces in their place.

The pictures Mike has put up look like the covers for the hardtop fitting kit
Your zed does not look like it has it so your one's will look like this
