Hi
Would anyone have a pair of screws that fix the hardtop to the front screen surround?
Or maybe know the thread size & length, I know its a tx40 head.
Many thanks
Clive

Length of the thread is 32mm if my memory serves me correctly and I think the thread is M8. I use a pair of allen headed set pins

Clive, if you are ordering from BMW would you mind ordering a second set and posting to me. The dealers here say not available. I can send you payment via PayPal if you PM me your email address. Thanks and no problem if you can't! JIM

You have your fair share of trouble getting bits and pieces over there don't you Jim

Jim, just get a couple of M8 allen set pins. The closest standard size are 35mm long threads and you just need to shorten them a little. I did mine on my grindstone. I dread to think what BMW will charge you for those plus the overseas postage.

I'm going to visit my local fastener wholesaler and see if they've got the tx40 version, and as you say Jack, give them the good news with the grinder.

Also a good idea to slip a small "O" ring under the head to keep it water tight.

Yes it would seem so, but I have been very fortunate to have the benefit of this forum full of generous people willing to either provide me with part for the cost of postage( thank you all) or willing to ship paid for part to me. And because I have a RHD it complicates some things more than it should at BMW. JIM

If you can get the proper OEM version, they are fitted with O rings, these hold them permanently in the holes in the windscreen surround. I have ti phone Sopers tomorrow, I will see if they are available and how much.

Thanks Tony, I have other bolts but would like the factory ones that remain in the holes as I'm really good at putting things where I'll remember where there are!! Then when I need them can't remember where I put them. I'm sure Joan finds things and moves them just to f$&k with me!! JIM
