Z3 Had engine clattering noise

Hi all I own a 2000 2.3 Z3 Manual and a few weeks ago it developed a dull fast pace clattering coming from the Vanos/Top of engine area. I checked oil level and looked at the oil condition which seemed fine… I couldn’t find the issue so I let it sit for a few weeks until last week when I started it up with no noise at all. I took it for a drive and it seemed completely fine my question is do you guys think I am fine to drive it or so I still be concerned.

I would be checking the Disa valve, they have a tendency to rattle too, before they fall to pieces.

Sorry for the late reply, noise is still gone. When I was having the noise I unplugged the Disa valve and ran the engine and the noise stayed… I am assuming it wasn’t the Disa maybe just fluke?
