Having sorted my dodgy outer and inner sills on my wonderful Dakar Yellow 2001 2.2, I got started on a dead short for fuse 33. Forums gave loads of info, so set off bit by bit. Disconnected the front and rear lights, switch, interior courtesy light, checked the boot loom which was perfect and still had a dead short. Only affected the side lights, dash and Interior lights. Checked out the illuminated gear nob as well, no joy. Dead short.

After a mild rage over a few days someone suggested the boot light shorting to the chassis...checked it and bloody thing was touching the frame. What a totally crap design, all that work and something so simple sorted it. Now has some tape applied.

Parasitic drain was also a pain. Tried interior lights, central locking, stereo still drawing 800mA when asleep. Weeks had gone by with the short and the drain. Again another post from years ago was found....Harmen Karden amp next to the hood pump was not switching off and going to sleep. Amp removed, drain down to 80mA in sleep. what a stupid set up again! Just awaiting the next frustrating challenge! Grrrrrr!

Amazing how some old hard to find posts have brilliant pearls of wisdom to help us out decades later! Bit of patience and time to rifle through them,

Yes. The interweb is brilliant for those of us that tinker. I've been messing with old cars for 50 years. I just don't understand how I ever managed anything back in the days before resources like zRoadster. Kids today have it cushy. aye, and there were 33 of us living in a shoebox in't middle of t'road . . . . .

Cars were a bl**dy sight easier back in t'good old days. A lot more spacious around the engine, too. Could pretty much climb into the engine compartment on my Morris 1000 and hit whatever needed hitting with a hammer that day. They did need hitting more than these new-fangled modern plastic piles of cr4p.
