- totally different to yours. I've never seen one like yours on a Z3.

I've never seen a Z3 steering wheel with any type of trim. Find out which BMW it came off and look in the car repair manual.
From my experience I'd remove the steering wheel from the car and closely inspect it to work out how it was assembled. Most trim just "clips" on. If it's secured by screws or other fasteners you will get a better view by taking it off and looking at the underside/back of it.
I'd be surprised if it was stuck on with adhesive but it's not unheard of.

Looks like it might be a steering wheel of an E46...

It's more then likely snapped in place, however I would remove the airbag as there may well be a couple of screws behind it. If you have the new black one take a look at it and you will see how if fits

I’ve fitted that wheel to mine, according to the brochure in 1999 that’s what should of been fitted but the dealer rang me to say it wouldn’t have it due to technical issues. They did finally fit them around 2001, it may look like an E46 wheel but hub/slip ring is different.
Yes the airbag has to come out then you will see fixing screws for the upper and lower trims then two behind the lower spokes. I found the hardest part is getting the round airbag out but once you’ve done it a few times it gets easier.

Here’s mine Royal trimmed with extra padding, standard leather and silver trim.
