Buy a 2.8 Z3 if a bigger engine is what you want. But if you want a faster 1.9, then there are some great mods you can do without changing the engine or you can add a super charger.

Hi, Myron welcome to the site, if you want beef up your engine
look at GDK sports cars they do a super charger kit for the M44 engine
its about £1k thou
this is without a upgrade for the front brakes or even fitting a clutch upgrade it wont be cheap

Fitting a low budget supercharger to a 1.9 your probably going to end up with a little les power than a 2.5 for 3 times more than what a 2.5 conversion costs
Already considered the supercharger option but cost is much greater that the improvements hence the look at an engine change

Cheaper to sell and buy the Z3 with the engine size you want...you also have to factor in thatvtominsure the car correctly once done you will need an Engineers report as to the safety of the car following conversion...but you don't need this for modifications to the original, go figure...

No engineering reports on my car when insured through Adrian flux told them all the mods
1.9s are easier to find then 2.8s and cheaper after what I've spent so far and the cost of 2.8 engine this car will still be cheaper than getting a 2.8 as to insurance will get quote before hand but I don't expect to pay much more than I am now
Any Zed is a good Zed buddy. Which ever flicks your switch and budget.
