RIGHT!! I have now driven an MX5 2.0 and it was quite good but nothing special. I have also driven the Z3 2.2 and it sounded amazing, not quite the same power as the 2.8 but it still put a big smile on my face (that noise). Here's the pickle, Z3 2.2 or Z4 3.0, the Z4 seems to be more readily available for the money and gets good writeups, more headroom and more power. Opinions?
Only you can answer this one. Several members started with a Z3, and changed to a Z4 and a number went back to a Z3, or were able to add on to their collection. Common comments are that the Z3 has more character whilst the Z4 is a more sophisticated car. Only way to find out is to drive the Z4 yourself (or you could buy both......well maybe).

I am a car body tech by trade and would steer well clear of any Mazda, they have no anti corrosion on the underside and rust severely, I still get a shock at the amount of corrosion when I look underneath 3-4 year old cars ,

As far as interior is concerned I was quoted £800 by a trim company for complete reupholster of seats and door cards in the colour and material of your choice. Centre console arm rest is another issue and puts up the price. They have a picture of a recently completed Z on their website.

I bought my Z4 3.0 because it had to be a daily drive, my one and only car. I love it to bits, but you have to choose what's right for you ...............

Tony.

ps. I still have to turn and look at it as I walk away just like I did with my Z3;)

They are great thank you. I'm struggling to find a good 2.8 in budget, there is a great looking one being sold by duckhunt but I will struggle to get down to have a look at it. Also I've not driven the 2.2 or 1.9 so I think I need to try them out to see if they'll give me the same smile factor. Ive also had a look at the audi tt 225bhp, brilliant performance and spec but the ride wasnt the best and i feel that pushing a 1.8 engine to those limits will put excessive strain on it and lose the reliability of the bmw. Thanks everyone.
That And the fact you'll look like a hairdresser gone wrong in a mk1 audi tt ;);)
The tt will almost certainly never become a classic either. Theres no character and charm you get with the z3.

.....

My dad just bought a tt =))
