Z3 car radio aerial ?

Hi just asking advice on new car aerial for my z3 1997 got aftermarket stereo and radio reception is awful heard can upgrade aerial helps any ideas cheers ?

I have one from an early 2000's smart car on mine - it's a longer antenna than the BMW one and improved the reception immeasurably for me!

Cheers as mine looks bit knackered seen replace the rubber grommit might help but cant see how make it be better ? Might try get smart car aerial if u say better and fit ok thanks

Mine went duff so fitted a universal aerial I got from ebay, bit of a fiddle to fit but managed it ok, you dont use the factory gromit just the one on the base of the replacement. Reception is fine and better than the old factory aerial even though thats an amplified aerial. The unused power connection in the boot is not used so insulated and tucked away. It sets a code in the radio module as it detects the power lead is not connected. I can live with that. Used oem ones seem to be offerred for circa £60 or more.

Hi All ...just replaced the grommet on my Z3 (looks good!) and refitted the original aerial but found reception is rubbish... however, it has an after market pioneer unit fitted! Now, does this mean that as its not the OEM unit fitted that the power for the amplified unit has not been connected behind the dash??? as only just acquired my Z I don't have that history info!

Think could be if after market radio wont get pwered reception fron aerial so i am fitting aftermarket aerial ser if that works bloody germans lol
