Good Morning All
My name is Pete and I've just registered on this excellent group. I've just bought myself a gorgeous y2k 2.0 in Topaz Blue and absolutely loving it.
The car is the replacement for my beautiful Triumph T595 which was unfortunately written off in an accident in August 2021. I was a bit broken too with a fractured pelvis and a tibial plateau fracture which is basically a broken knee. The knee has been the big problem and I'm only just getting properly back to work as a self employed carpenter.
I'd considered what I wanted to replace the bike, Triumph Spitfire, maybe, or a Fiat X1/9 or MX5......
I hadn't even considered a Z3 until my son-in-law sent me a link to a 1.9 one owner car with just 48k miles on it. It was only 20 miles away so I went to have a look. It looked gorgeous with lovely shiny bodywork, I was already hooked! I checked the car over. The underside looked a bit unloved and the outer sills needed work but it had just recently passed an MOT so I thought it can't be bad, (can it??). We agreed a price if he got the sills done and I left him a deposit. On the way home I realised that I hadn't checked the MOT certificate so did it on-line when I got home, oh dear! The car had passed but had a huge list of advisories all about corrosion, basically it might have passed now but it won't pass the next! I pulled out, losing my deposit and learnt not to get carried away by shiny paint!!
The car I ended up buying is absolutely rust free and the underside looks like a 5 year old car. It drives faultlessly with no squeaks, rattles or bangs and the hood doesn't leak, superb! Looking forward to sorting out a few minor issues with the help of this site and bringing it up to scratch. Apologies for the long post.
