Hello! I am bypassing the HK amplifier in my 99 Z3 2.3. I have been successful and am now using my new head unit to power the stock speakers which are all being replaced. The amp has 3 plugs - one of them is a 6 pin socket. Below are images of the amp and then a closer look at the 6 pin socket. Does anyone know what the function of the wire coming from the plug in the socket is for? Any help is appreciated and as always thank you!

That wire is the GAL signal - basically a wire that tells the amp which speed you are going so it can increase/decrease the volume based on the speed/road noise - interestingly this is I believe present only in roadsters.

If you are not using it, are you going to be selling it? I might be interested

Hi Mario! Thanks for the information! What is the GAL? Something to do with speed and volume? Anyway, sure I would sell the amp to you! Where are you located? I have the amp out of the car - The 2 main plugs are still in the car and neither in great shape as I needed to see the pin numbers and the wire going into that pin. But I would include them with the amp anyway. I also have the GAL plug and cord but have not cut it yet. I have the bracket as well. I have attached images. Could we do $60 US plus shipping to wherever you are? Let me know and thanks!

Its London - I thought you were UK based - postage might be a bit of a deal breaker but let me have a think

How did you bypass the amp with the speaker wires did you have to cut the plug and then run new wire to each speaker?
