Had this request come in via a PM to me by mistake...

----------------

Hi Guys,

I've had my 1998 Z3 for just over a year now and I've carried out all under the hood issues and now seem to have some electrical issues.

Electrics are not my thing so please help. Today my alarm won't turn off or on by using the key fob. So I had to use the key for entry. When opening the door the alarm went off and went off after 1/2 min and then went off again when starting the car.

I've removed the glove box compartment to try and 7disconnect the alarm but I really don't know what I'm looking for. What I assume is the alarm module had a black wire running up the window frame to the alarm sensor was loose and just fell away.

Please, please help as my neighbours must hate me.

@t-tony can you remember why mine kept going off? I had a similar problem but can't remember the cause. Tony may be able to shed some light on it.

I would check the tilt sensor in the boot passenger side rear it sits in a recess that often fills with water and also your bonnet switch.
The alarm siren under the bonnet can be switched off too if you have a key .

Go under the bonnet and turn the siren off. It had a small circular ( think bike lock) key hole on it

Depends which alarm system you have, they were all after market systems added to the car once they arrived at the dealers if I remember rightly.

I had this type, key on far left (Not my photo)

I had the exact same problem and it turned out to be the tilt sensor in the boot, water had got in and was causing a short I guess.
