Hello and welcome from me in South Yorkshire.
Sounds like the window mechanism has gone they can damage the doors hense the weld.
Our resident breaker @spurs fan in a coupe always has parts if you need them.
The third break light may be the loom of doom the wire between the car and the boot lid often breaks internally as said check the fuse and the feed it may be the feed is damaged can be fixed with out much issue

Beware that the 'Loom of Doom' is contagious. First my Z had it then the Galaxy caught it after being parked too close to the Z. Now our Honda is showing signs too..

I've been lucky. 5 Z3s through my hands and not one with a boot loom issue. That said it should certainly be your first port of call. And just because it looks okay on the outside sheath it doesn't mean a single wire isn't broken inside.

There are other causes of course. The board may have become damp and corroded. A loose connection to the board. All the bulbs blew one by one until you had none left. Might just be a fuse but I expect it shares a fuse with something else and you'd know about that. But then what caused the fuse to go...

Now that one I have experienced on more than 1 occasion. The torque from the regulator can snap off the barrel nut. And it can also crack the metal on the other 2 mounting points. It seems to be more of a problem on the pre-facelifts, from my experience anyway.

My brother's was gone on all 3 mounting points. I would imagine it's quite a precision job to weld that amount back so the regulator sits right. So we changed the door. At least your garage are on the ball and know what they're talking about.
