I have started a restoration project on 2001 Z3 3.0i manual in topaz blue.
The car was purchased as Cat "N" at an auction.
One owner from new, only 86000 miles.
The plan is to strip down and replace damaged body parts (Front bupmer/Bonnet/wing), refresh/replace suspension components and brakes and do a fully service (fluids, filters, plugs, rocker cover gasket etc).
No specific timeline but it would be nice to have the car finished by Summer.

Hi and welcome from me. A lot of work to get done for summer but ok if you have the time, you’ll be surprised one things leads onto another that can be better. Plus the cash flow:D hope you don’t have a better half to explain where the holiday money went. Good luck and keep us posted.

And we are done!
It's been fun few weeks working on Z3. I have replaced front wishbones, new shocks and mounts, complete brake system overhaul, gearbox and diff oils, engine coolant, oil and filter, rocker cover gasket, drive belt and tensioner pulleys, bonnet and front bumper. I have also refurbished the wheels, replaced tyres, repaired headlight, painted cross-brace, driveshafts and brake calipers in matching blue. Overall it was great experience, spare parts are plentiful and reasonably priced (especially compared to my previous project, Porsche 911). The car is going on sale shortly to fund the next restoration!

So how much do you reckon it is worth now?

I will be happy with £4K.
Financially it does not quite make sense to do this kind of restoration, especially considering the amount of time required but I love doing the work as a hobby and it helps to keep one more classic car on the road:)
