So I just bought my second Z3 today. Got the car for 2k and felt I got a good deal, on the way home from work that night the car kept almost stalling and dying.

The car has only started (that I’ve seen) on a jump and was able to idol fine at the guys house. The car drove great going home (about a 30 min drive) I noticed lights on the dash going dim and then coming back on, but nothing effected the driving. Once I stoped and tried to start it again after my work the car would start on a jump turn on then die. I was able to get it going by giving it gas but as soon as I turned on my lights the car would almost die again as I’m going down the road. Lights on the dash kept going dim and anything electrical being used would cause the car to almost die. I love this car and have wanted a 2.8 for a while. I was wondering if anybody could help me with this or if I should try to give the car back and get my money. I love the car and would rather not.

ps. He car was sitting for a month before I drove it.

Sounds like the alternator not charging properly, would check this first.
2K for a 2.8 is very cheap!

I would test the battery first. It may well be knackered. Also, as above, see what voltage is getting to the battery from the alternator.
If you can sort it with a new battery then it is still a bit of a bargain, by the sound of it.

I suspect it is the alternator which isn't working as it should. But, as said its easy to find out.

As above if alternator has failed battery properly also toast due to not being charged correctly.
But zeds aren't that common for alternator failure so may just be a dud battery.

So it looks like water was getting into the battery tray. I changed the battery and she runs great! Thanks for all the help.
