The work I wanted to finish on my Titan Silver 2.2 Sport before moving it on is now complete having mooted the sale a little earlier in the year.
I bought 'Dax' last August when despite having other Z3s at the time none of them were available for the back end of the summer. Despite having 135k miles on the clock Dax has been a revelation. Dax is low owner (3) and has clearly been well looked after by each of those owners. Dax drives better than any of my other cars and genuinely feels like there's only 80k miles on the clock.
The interior was the only major item that needed attention. Even then it wasn't heavily worn. But it had extended leather that was starting to peel and colour loss on the seats. So the big deal with Dax is that the interior has been swapped out and features newly refurbished Sport seats. There's been around 40 hours of work put in to this and it's been done properly being sprayed on and sealed using Furniture clinic products. The interior is beautiful. And not over-restored. The seats look lived-in like they should for a near 20 year old car but are immaculate.
Dax has been given a very thorough check over and an Inspection II service. The full list of work I've completed is:
These are the notes I made during inspection where further attention will be required by the new owner. A pretty modest list I think but I would prefer to be open and upfront.
I'm confident the above is a full and honest description with nothing major missed. For those new to Z3s/the forum and looking at other cars run through all of the above points with the seller and see what comes back! Most sellers won't even know the answers. So be careful. There's a few jobs still to do but it will be much longer on most cars. But you may not find out until down the line as you get to know these cars.
Asking price is now £2,350 (was £2,650). I honestly don't think you'll find a better value 2.2 Sport out there. Yes, it's got 135k miles on the clock but the important thing is it's been well maintained throughout it's life and is modest money. If this had the 80k miles on the clock it looks and drives like it would be a £4k car.
All viewings welcome while obeying social distancing. You're welcome to test drive solo. But I will require you to take out temporary comprehensive insurance with Cuvva or similar. This should cost £10 or less for 1 hour and I will take it off the sale price if you buy the car. It only takes 5 minutes to arrange cover via a phone app.
Initial enquiries via PM please. More pictures to follow.

Dax has been given a very thorough check over and an Inspection II service. The full list of work I've completed is:
- Refurbished black Sport seats. Bolsters permanently repaired using the correct grade sponge. Heated seating elements tested, repaired and fully working. Seat motors all fully working. Seat belt guides not damaged
- Refurbished door speaker grilles. Dismantled, fabric screen replaced and resprayed in satin black
- Lovely pair of door cards. No damage from previous removal as is often the case and all clips/mounts present. 2 solid door handles
- Window mechanisms over-hauled with new sliders and lubricated correctly
- Door water-proof membranes repaired and replaced with new butyl
- All interior bulbs checked and replaced as required including the troublesome heater panel bulbs (and ash tray)
- All dashboard warning lights checked. Important as bulbs will often be removed to mask issues
- Both lower and upper intake hoses replaced with genuine BMW parts
- Engine vacuum system smoke tested. Fuel filter line (tees off upper intake hose) and cap on rear of cylinder head replaced
- Front brake calipers over-hauled with Big Redd seals, cleaned and repainted in silver
- New front TRW discs, Brembo pads and pad wear sensor
- Brake fluid flushed and replaced. Bled with pressure bleeder. Brakes spot-on
- New windscreen wiper blades
- Steam-cleaned roof
- New rear drop links
- A-pillar rubber seals repaired
- Nice panels throughout. No rust on rear wing arches. No scuffs on bumpers - unusual! Sill ends are generally very reasonable. One is bubbling and there is a hole in the offside cover but that's on the underside and not visible from the top. Modest amount of paint blemishes, some light scratches and small parking dints which will be substantially removed with a polish and PDR. Only other point of note is it's had a hard top fitted before and this has rubbed the rear windscreen panel and one wing top. Only lacquer peel is around the aerial base. BMW badges all in nice condition
- Underside consistent with the good condition of panels. My initial check is always the rear trailing arms and these have light corrosion only. Underside of structural sills and jacking points do have surface corrosion but no worse than normal. Sills off and a clean and paint should be enough here
- Brake lines are corrosion free
- Decent set of original Style 78 alloys
- No corrosion on door mirror bases and no nasty scuffs on casings
- Decent hood and rear screen (beading has been glued back in one corner)
- Boot under carpet - tool tray, battery and alarm sensor wells are all 100% free of rust and water. Frankly I'm gob-smacked as it's the best condition I've seen in this area on a Z3. So no leaks going on here
- The interior is similarly dry and leak free other than a little damp from previously leaking A-pillar rubber seals. The floor pan has no water pooling and is rust free
- Engine bay is extremely clean and largely rust free
- Remote locking fully working. No boot loom of doom issues
- Full original tool kit present
- Full set of original 4 keys including 2 remotes. A good sign of being cared for by all owners. Rare to have all 4 keys
- Driving the car is a lovely experience, smooth, no rattles and no transmission kick as often experienced
- No error codes present on diagnostics
- The exhaust is the loveliest growl I've heard yet on a 2.2 with nice pops. Puts a big smile on your face!
- Original BMW wallet with manual and service book. Stamped up to 75k miles with 2 services noted after this but mileage not recorded against them. Paperwork for many previous MOTs and a number of receipts. A good indication of the care received is that as recently as 2016 the owner was still prepared to spend £40 on a new genuine bonnet badge!
These are the notes I made during inspection where further attention will be required by the new owner. A pretty modest list I think but I would prefer to be open and upfront.
- Battery retaining strap missing - sorry don't have a spare
- Front o/s drop link rubber boot starting to perish
- Headlamp coating de-laminating
- Rear brake discs lightly scored
- Battery condition deteriorated but not currently an issue
- Handbrake cable outers cracked & deteriorated but brake still operating correctly
- Small crack in windscreen
- Likely minor leak from gearbox rear seal
- Propshaft giubo rubber slightly cracked & perished - investigate gearbox seal during replacement.
