The dust cover is rusted and the hole that one of the drum components sits in is rusted out. I have ordered replacements. Unfortunately, some genius designed this so that it with its relatively small hole in the centre has to be pulled over the wheel hub which is considerably larger.
My question is, how do I remove the hub from the splines? (I may have misnamed these parts so here is a photo for reference).

If its just the hole for the hold down pin which is corroded away and the rest is solid I wouldn't change the back plate for that. There is a way around that problem. Where are you located Gary?

Tony.

Use long thin bolts and nyloc nuts with washers and the existing springs. Sorted.

Allen headed bolts are ideal.
If you want a couple (or 4 if you want to do both sides) please send me a pm.

Tony.

Unfortunately, the pin was broken and loose when removed
The springs and washers will still be inside the "drum" Gary. There's no way for them to get out. However if you can't find them you can buy a spring kit from ECP.

Good luck with the cut and weld method been done before so you should manage ok. There is life left in your old ones if you replaced the pins with thin bolts like @t-tony suggested and a tin of black smoothright paint and a spring kit from ECP.

As that metal is really thin, you'll need to tack weld along it, otherwise you'll blow holes through it. So tack one end, then the other, welding alongwith just tack welds, let it cool bvetween tacks too otherwise it'll heat warp like a goodun. Good luck.
