I have a Z3 1.9 manufactured 10/2000 & first registered Jan 2001. ( facelift )
Does anyone know definitively if all Z3s at this date of manufacture have heated seats pre-installed. IE the heat pads in the seats.
but all just need the switches fitting. ( I am aware that all do have the wiring loom )
My Z doesn’t have the switches and so I have done a bit of research and looking at the wires and plugs under the seats it seemed everything was present.
So I have bought a switch, plugged it into the loom and got the relay sorted in the fuse box.
I’ve also checked fuses 4 and 23 and they are present and in working order.
when I press the switch it does illuminate as expected, but no heat from the seat. I’ve tried the switch on both driver and passenger side and no heat from either.
Therefore the options are
1. The switch is already knackered and doesn’t work.
2. The heating pads in the seats are knackered.
3. There are no heating pads in the seats
4. I need a switch for both sides to complete the circuit to make the heat seats work
5. Something else.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? My gut feeling is option 3 at the moment but as mentioned earlier, It did seem like the plugs are present and plugged in under each seat.
