They are both beautiful cars, but they’re almost too nice to actually drive much. For the same money you could have a quite a few very nice cars that are a bit more usable.

Lovely, I've thought on more than one occasion about taking the engine from my e39 and putting in my Z3 and having a fake Z8 but would be sacrilege.

Funny how the lower rear valance / bumper design on the Z1 seems commonplace on many modern BMWs.

I will be the blasphemus in this thread and will say that they are both very desirable and nice almost unique but they are not worthed the money they are valued.
At such high prices you can get mind boggling performance, ultimate luxury and absolute reliability that you can enjoy daily with no worries.
Same stands for any old Ferrari, Porsche, Aston etc.
Give me a modern 911, a Murcielago, an AMG-GT and I will go around the world untill the pistons melt.
These two are just a pain to maintain and adding miles is just adding worries.

All about the exclusivity I suppose.
I agree, I took a look at the hood on the Z8 and thought to myself, that looks strikingly similar to the one on my £2k Z3 :)

If there was just one Zastava Yugo left in the world I am pretty sure someone would pay a million just for the rarity and then brag about the simplicity and minimalism of the the design.
