Hi All

I have a bit of a problem. My central locking seems to have stopped working. Parked up and locked it with the key yesterday, came back from the shops and tried to unlock it and nothing so used the key. Thought it might be the battery in the fob but have tried the other key and I get the same. I am still able to turn on the light and set the alarm just not unlock the doors. Does anybody have any ideas or is it door card off? There are no noises coming from the door and passenger side stays locked ???

Regards Jim

I would suspect the master servo in the drivers door, but have you checked the fuses at all ?

Tony.

Guys thanks for that, both doors, haven't checked the fuses but I will tomorrow, if not what does the master servo look like and will it be expensive to change?

I changed the n/s actuator on mine last year Jim. It cost about £50 from euro car parts. It is mounted to the door inside the door card and connected to the door latch assembly by a metal rod. The drivers door one is the master servo which then controls the other doors, boot lid, and fuel flap etc.

Tony.

@leach62 Does the central locking work with the key in the drivers door lock? Open and close?

Sorry to steal the thread. Why Brian, do you have an idea? My fob locks and unlocks the drivers door and boot but not the passenger door. The key opens and locks everything.

I'll throw a curve ball out there, When my central locking went the whole lot did and it was caused by the boot loom snapping.

Not a curve ball at all @Lee , one of the main reasons the central locking fuse blows is because of the loom of doom.

Hi Brian, no it doesn't

Regards

Jim

OK Jim what if you try the key in the other locks? Any success?

Guys

Sadly checked the fuses at lunch time and they seem fine. I am hoping that seeing as I last locked it with the fob and have not opened the boot since that it might not be the loom. As there does not seem to be any noise from the drivers door when I activate the key that it is probably the actuator in the drivers door? So I will have to take the door card off, deep joy!!!!

To be clear I have tried the key in the boot and that does not unlock or lock the rest of the car. In the mean time is there a way of opening the passenger door?

Regards

Jim

Dave - these are typical `loom of doom' symptoms - it throws up all sorts of inconsistent errors.

Just pulled back the cover from the 'loom of doom', nearly all the wires have broken, well on the positive side I don't need to take the door card off. Would I be right in thinking I should disconnect the battery before I start trying to sort this out?
