As the title says. My engines aluminium head has a light golden yellow(ish) colour.
Clear coat gone bad? Is it supposed to be this way? I have no idea...
Never seen an M43 in new condition, so I am not sure how it should be.
I am tempted to remove the head and blast it with dry ice, but why fix something that is not broken….

I, for one wouldn't disturb a running engine just for cosmetics sake. Whether that's how it should look I can't say, sorry.

I agree Tony. But spent a whole day detailing the engine and this is the only thing that bothers my eyes.
not much of a deal, but still… my OCD kicked in…

I totally get that. I might try some foaming bathroom cleaner on an area that isn't noticeable. I used a product called "Scrubbing Bubbles" which I brought home from Florida when I had my Z3. Its brilliant under bonnet cleaner and similar products are available on the UK market.

@Zephyr ..they are supposed to be that yellow colour..but agree after 20 or so years they don’t look great ..my advice is to keep the bonnet closed 😁

An M43TU head will be coming off at some point for the inevitable head gasket swap.

The yellow stuff is just protective engine bay wax stuff. It's a sod to remove.
