SUNDAY OCTOBER 27th 2019

Here we go again!
So after a break in 2018 I'm going to organised this for autumn 2019 as an open invitation, so plenty of time to decide if you are up for it.
It will be as previous years a relatively short day of gentle, low speed cruising enjoying the beautiful autumn scenery. (disclaimer: I do not guarantee the quality of the Autumnal display or the weather ;))

Tintern Abbey & Yat Rock will most likely be on the route.
Lunch options will be arranged.
20 cars will be the maximum due to parking issues, the Forest is extremely busy this time of year (so first come first served)

I will post more info during 2019 but don't expect much before mid summer.

Hope you decide to come
Cheers
Niall & Ali

MEETING POINT:
Starbucks Ledbury Rd, Ross-on-Wye HR9 7XZ 8:15AM onwards

EDIT 21/04/19
LUNCH;
This year will be
The OrePool
Sling
Coleford
GL16 8LH

Main reason for the change is nothing more than its nice to try somewhere different. The team at The George has always looked after us but it is a bit cramped and parking is an issue in St Braviels.
The Ore Pool has a large car park and a large restaurant to accommodate us all. Ali and I have had lunch there and it was very good.

The menu is Sunday lunch (usually Beef, Chicken, Pork) and a few varied alternative mains, (gluten free is available) there is no need to pre-book we can decide on what we want when we sit down. You can all decide on the day if you want to eat and how many courses you would like. I will get a copy of the menu to post here nearer the time as menus change.

Everyone will be responsible for settling their own food/bar bill before leaving.

Hope this accommodates everyone. :)

Prices are as follows
1 Course £9.95
2 Courses £12.45
3 Courses £14.95

Sorry this is NOT a dog friendly pub. Dogs in the Garden areas only.

EDIT: 24/09/2019

OK folks, here is the link to the satnav files for the run. If you are not a MyRoutes user you can join for free.
In the in link you will find 2 folders
Cruise Routes
Home Routes
The cruise routes are what they say, the home routes are for the best ways back to the main motorways from the Orepool depending which way you are heading. Those heading to the M5 North can do route 5 in the cruise routes as that goes back to the starting point at Starbucks at the bottom of the M50 (of course everyone is welcome to end there) its just not in the right direct for South Wales or for those heading east on the M4.
I will do written / pictorial routes as previous years and hand them out on the day, BUT I advise everyone if possible to download the satnav routes if you can.
To do this;
1. Open the desired folder
2. Click on a route to open it
3. Click on the "save as"
4. Tom Tom Mydrive users and just click that option and the route will be sent to your Tom Tom device.
5. Other users select the appropriate route type and download it to your device. (please don't ask me how to do this as I only use a Tom Tom)

Itinerary:
Times are approximate except leaving Starbucks
8:15 (onwards) Meet at Starbucks for a coffee and natter
9:30 Leave Starbucks (Route 1)
10:00 Arrive Yat Rock (Local view point) SORRY parking is £3:00 or you can chance it
10:30 Leave Yat Rock (Route 2)
11:00 Arrive Tintern Abbey parking can be reclaimed when you buy a cuppa (There is a tea room at the Anchor and the Monks Tea Rooms)
12:00 Leave Tintern (Route 3)
12:45 Arrive Lydney carpark (toilet stop)
13:00 Advise leave Lydney (Route 4)
13:45/14:00 Arrive The Orepool (Lunch)
Leave the Orepool at your leisure

All the above is just a suggestion, its up to you all how long you spend at each place or if you stop along the way for photos, the only time I would like to hold everyone to is lunch at the Orepool SEATED at 14:00 (2pm old money)

I am happy that we all leave Starbucks together as it doesn't really matter if the group get a little split up as you will all have detailed routes so there's no need to hang on to the bumper of the car in front.

LUNCH NUMBERS:
We don't have to pre-book our lunch choice (see above info) BUT I do need to give the Orepool some numbers, so please can you ALL message me please as to yes or no and 1 or 2. NB Ali and I went to the Orepool on Sunday for lunch again and it was great, BUT busy hence this request.

Any questions please ask them on this thread, again lunch number please PM me
Thanks
Niall

This bit is important:
I am not doing groups this time. The route will made available for satnavs. It will also be made available in written/pictorial format as previous years. So if you come, YOU follow the route and are responsible for getting yourself around. So everyone can drive at their own pace and stop where they want, lunch and tea break times will be given and it will be up to each attendee to arrive on time.
This is as a result of the fact it seems to always fall to the same people to run groups and be sweepers. Those people then don't enjoy the day as much as they should and I don't want to have to ask them again.

Sorry if this goes against the grain for some but I feel its the best way forward for everyones enjoyment that decide to attend.
