Hi Tony, a couple of questions 1) is it a ‘fit & forget’ smart charger type of charger, and 2) does it automatically revert to charging after a mains power failure?
looking for something for my campervan batteries overwinter. Quite frequently get mains power outages/ circuit breaker trips and the one of the chargers I have doesn’t revert, so slowly drains the battery instead
I loaned it out, so I'll check the destructions when it comes back.
I can't imagine how it can't, no different to switching it on in the first place is it?
I bought a one from Lidl and I connected it the battery for a few days, and the battery had a bulge on it. The meter was showing a charge of 15v.
Maybe you get what you pay for, as I’ve had a Ctek one for years with no problems.

No idea of this also switches to standby mode after a power failure and waits for a mode to be selected, but one solution for you would be an "online" UPS (not offline, because these start after a power failure so do not help that much in your situation).
An online (interractive or double conversion) kicks in at miliaeconds and provides power immediately, and as long as your power failures do not last for hours, is your solution if you already spent money on chargers and do not want to throw them away.
