So the 2.8 passed it m.o.t. had a few advisories which expected... went trough no problem did get advisories on all disks which to be honest expected as they all pretty rusty.. i have driven it about and they cleaning up ok so no real urgency on it and the brakes work great..emissions were all good too, I really expected there to be problems there but it all came out good also had advisories for two front tyres that were worn on the inside i dont know how i missed that but have other sets of wheels here so no real problem there he did point out the dreaded fuel tank straps and we d id speak about it and i said that my 1.9 was the same so he let me off that one and also noted the spare wheel carrier rusty which i dont know is testable in hindsight i should have given it a bit of a cleanup...

have driven it a few times over the past few days and its very addicticew i do like the power and sound of its sweet six cylinders... undecided on what i going to do with it long term i just wish i had another garage or a hard top for it as its left outside on my car port and my 1.9 is tucked up in the garage

just need a few more prettying jobs to it.. needs a new bonnet badge and antenna grommet and some paint on the inside of the convertible roof front bit that attaches to the screen, but at least its all legal

Phew !!!!!

Nice work! Mine passed the retest today. Always a relief. Must be for you as you’ve done a lot without even getting it tested.

I’d like to know how you’ve been driving it round the past few days though if the MOT was only today ;)

Woohoo! Know that feeling. Great news.
Apparently my MOT tester said that nowadays any surface rust has to be recorded as a ‘corrosion’ advisory, regardless of how minor it is. eg my brake pipes- asked him to change them “oh, there’s nothing wrong with them, they don’t need changing, but we’ve wire brushed and waxoyled them for you anyway” Guess what - 8 months later the very same guy that assessed them & did the waxoyling issued an advisory saying that the pipes were covered in grease or oil, so unable to assess their condition!!! He remembered doing it, but said rules is rules. FFS, Really pees me off.
